I Low Key Expected To Hate Coffee Mate's New Flavor

Summer weather is one of the best opportunities to experiment with coffee. Unconventional mixers like tonic or coconut water add refreshing spins to an otherwise plain cup. Flavored seasonal syrups are another great way to impart some flavor. But the easiest way to boost your morning brew is with a splash of creamer.

Coffee creamer comes in countless flavors ranging from crème brûlée to blueberry muffin. But Coffee Mate just dropped a new seasonal creamer inspired by one of the most quintessential summer treats: an orange creamsicle.

Coffee Mate’s Orange Cream Pop Flavored Duo Creamer is the newest product in the brand’s lineup and evokes the same nostalgia as ice cream trucks during peak summer. The creamy, citrusy combination is one of the best ice cream flavors. But how does it taste with coffee?

Admittedly, I was fairly skeptical about how it would taste. So our team decided to try it and provide our unfiltered review.

Just like the rest of Coffee Mate’s lineup, the Orange Cream Pop is twice as rich as plain milk—so you don’t need much of it to add a boost of creamy sweetness to your coffee. Because of the seasonal, summer flavors of the creamer, we tried it with plain iced coffee.

The first smell of this creamer is like a punch of orange candy. Our senior video producer Marc Stauble compared it to citrus-scented chocolates you’d find in England. But as an American who prefers black coffee, I was kind of scared.

That fear clouded my judgement when I took the first sip. The flavor tastes exactly like an orange creamsicle, and my gut instinct told me that was a bad thing.

And then I took another sip…and another. The next thing I knew, I finished my entire glass. The creamer seriously grew on me, converting me from a skeptic to a full fledged creamsicle convert. The rest of Team Delish had a similar experience.

“I didn’t think orange would taste good with coffee,” said assistant digital food producer Taylor Worden. “I like it a lot more than I thought I would.”

If you want to try it for yourself, Coffee Mate is selling limited quantities of their Orange Cream Pop Flavored Duo Creamer. It’ll be available first come, first serve on their online shop with two drops on July 12 and 22, with a limit of one bottle per order.
