Lyft is doing its part to make holiday travel merry and bright.

Earlier this week, the ride-sharing company announced new guidelines that scheduled rides to the airport will be covered in most major U.S. markets by Lyft's on-time pickup promise.

This, according to Lyft, means that a car is guaranteed to meet travelers who schedule a ride in advance, but should the driver be more than 10 minutes late, the company will pay the traveler $20 in Lyft Cash.

Riders who are not automatically matched with a new driver 10 minutes after their scheduled pickup time will then instead receive $50 in Lyft Cash, the company added.

Travelers who are not matched with a driver and opt to schedule another ride to the airport with a different company, such as Uber, can then request up to an additional $50 in Lyft Cash for $100 in total, per Lyft.

“Every minute counts when you’re on the way to the airport,” Lyft CEO David Risher said in a statement.

He added, “We’re so confident that we can get you there on time that if we’re more than ten minutes late for your scheduled pick-up, we’ll give you up to $100 in Lyft credits to make up for it — even if you take a taxi or an Ub*r.”

Should travelers need to make the request for additional credits, Lyft said their customers should click on the “Help” tab in the Lyft app and submit the receipt from their alternate transportation.

Alongside the new scheduled ride guidelines, Lyft has also recently introduced an Extra Comfort mode, which the company describes as "an affordable everyday upgrade to your rideshare experience."

Extra Comfort, Lyft said, offers roomier cars, top-rated drivers and the ability to request a quiet ride or help with luggage.
