The once-Material Girl is going to the movies. Madonna is slated to write and direct her very own biopic for Universal Pictures alongside Juno writer Diablo Cody. Cody will co-write the story of Madonna's rise to fame, and Little Women and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse producer Amy Pascal will produce the untitled project.

“I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer—a human being, trying to make her way in this world,” Madonna said of the venture, per Variety. “The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.”

Madonna and Cody have been teasing the project on social media for weeks, with the "Like a Virgin" singer dropping a working title—Live To Tell—in one post.

“This movie is an absolute labor of love for me,” Pascal said in a statement, according to Variety. “I have known Madonna since we made A League of Their Own together, and I can’t imagine anything more thrilling than collaborating with her and Diablo on bringing her true-life story to the big screen with Donna and our partners at Universal.”

Though this isn't Madonna's directorial debut (she directed 2008's Filth and Wisdom and the 2011 Golden Globe-winner W.E.), this may be the highest profile film she's worked on in her entire career.

The film is still in the pre-production phase, but Madonna and Cody will be searching for their lead actress sooner than later. Let you fan-casting dreams run wild!
