Man arrested on suspicion of rape in park

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted in a town centre park.

Northamptonshire Police were told the incident took place at 03:00 BST on Saturday 4 May in Becket's Park, just off the A428 Bedford Road and the A5123 Victoria Promenade.

An investigation was launched, and police remained in the park for most of Saturday. The force asked anyone with information to get in touch.

The man, from the town, was also arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a Class B drug and remained in custody.
