A man was taken into custody this week after a severed leg was discovered in a Wisconsin park.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) said in a Facebook post on April 5 that it had "converged on a residence on Milwaukee’s south side" and "took a person of interest into custody for questioning" — three days after the human limb was found at Warnimont Park in Cudahy, Wisconsin.

The leg was found just before 5:30 p.m. local time on April 2, per the office, when Milwaukee County Dispatch received a call. The sheriff’s office later began a homicide investigation.

According to local outlet TMJ4 News, neighbors said law enforcement then raided a local man's home, and the man was being held in Milwaukee County Jail. TMJ4 did not share the man's name since he was not criminally charged at the time.

The MCSO did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for more information on April 6.

"I saw a lot of people go in and out of the house, bringing out bags of things," neighbor Molly Lynn told the outlet.

"Obviously you never know anything that's going on in your neighborhood so definitely concerning," Lynn added. "I'm hoping they find out what else is going on and it's not a larger issue."

Neighbors in the area of South 39th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue told WISN that they spotted multiple law enforcement agencies at the home for hours. "Well, [I'm] a little surprised, obviously, but in this day and age, anything can happen in any neighborhood," Michael Burish said. "If it truly is a homicide, I feel sorry for the family."

The Cudahy Police Department said on Facebook that it is assisting in the investigation, and WISN reported that the FBI is also helping investigate. WKOW reported that the home was searched for more than 24 hours.

Officials from the MCSO and the Wisconsin Department of Justice reportedly had their guns aimed at the home, per TMJ4.

Dogs that were residing at the home are now in the custody of the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission, the outlet also reported.

On Facebook, the MCSO asked anyone with "a credible tip or information related to this matter" to contact its non-emergency number.
