Mariah and James 'never signed' $65 million prenup

If you're wondering why Mariah Carey is reportedly demanding US$50 million (A$65 million) from ex-fiance James Packer, it's because they 'agreed' to the amount in a prenuptial agreement but never actually signed the document.

According to TMZ, e-mails exchanged in February this year detailed the couple's prenup negotiations and revealed the 46-year-old singer would receive millions if her marriage to the Australian billionaire was to end.

The gossip site also reports the contract contained a clause that required Mariah to return any gift given to her by James if they split, unless there was a note from the 49-year-old stating otherwise.

TMZ adds that the couple, who announced their engagement at the start of this year after less than 12 months of dating, wanted the 100-page prenup signed by March 1 2016 so they could wed in Bora Bora.

However when James was told of delays to the agreement he sent off a very abrupt e-mail.

News of Mariah and James' unsigned prenup comes as the pop star's divorce to husband of six-years Nick Cannon became official overnight.
