The ‘Masked Singer’ Season 3 Schedule Is My Own Personal March Madness

Watching The Masked Singer feels like falling down a rabbit hole on a normal day, so forgive and don’t judge me for only recently noticing that the Masked Singer season 3 schedule is totally different this time around. All of a sudden, everyone is talking about the Super Nine. What the heck is a Super Nine?! We’re here to help.

Simply put, the 18 masked characters in season 3 have been divided into three groups of six. Each group eliminates three performers, one at a time, until the top three from each group remain in the Super Nine. The bracket is somehow more complicated than college basketball, and it means that a month into the season, there are still six singers we haven’t even heard yet.

Why are they withholding all these performers until so late in the season? Why am I being edged by a bunch of wannabe furries on FOX?

Narrowing down small groups does make for some pretty shocking reveals at the beginning of the season. I’ll give The Masked Singer that. We’re no longer forced to suffer through two weeks of athletes who can’t sing and Vine stars nobody knows followed by a month of the half yelling, “IT’S WAYNE BRADY, YOU DUMMIES,” at the screen. But on the other hand, I feel bad knowing I probably could have figured out some of the eliminated celebs in Group A if only we’d had more time together. Regardless of whether it’s better or worse, here’s the schedule going forward:

Group A’s Schedule

Roll Call: Kangaroo, Turtle, White Tiger, Miss Monster (Chaka Khan), Llama (Drew Carey), and Robot (Lil Wayne)

Episodes: 1 to 3

When: February 2 to February 12

Group B’s Schedule

Roll Call: Banana, Elephant, Frog, Kitty, Mouse, Taco

Episodes: 4 to 6

When: February 19 to March 4

Group C’s Schedule

Roll Call: Astronaut, Bear, Night Angel, Rhino, Swan, T-Rex

Episodes: 7 to 9

When: Barring a hiatus we don’t yet know about, March 11 to March 25

What Happens Next?

I truly don’t know for sure, but we can assume that the Super Nine will be narrowed down in their own block of episodes that will conclude in April. I would guess the Super Nine will knock off one person in episodes 10 to 12 and maybe pull a double elimination to spice things up before sending the top three to the finale in (perhaps) episode 13.

Is this better? Nothing is really better or worse when it comes to The Masked Singer. It’s just kind of like...sure! Just go with it.
