Melania Trump escapes the White House on SNL
It’s not exactly a shock for the Donald Trump to appear on a Saturday Night Live skit, but this time they’ve taken aim at Melania.
The hilarious segment came at the end of the hit show, which saw an actor who played a man working in a Gucci call centre who forming a friendship with Melania Trump.
A lonely Melania calls the man numerous times just so she can confide in him.
He tells her about how much he hates his job but he can’t quit because he needs the money and she tells him how she can’t have serious conversations with her husband, Donald Trump.
At the end of the skit, Melania escapes the White House and walks into the call centre, telling off the man’s workmate for bullying him.
The segment comes amid a flurry of news last week where Melania hit back at Trump’s ex-wife, Ivana, for calling herself the real ‘First Lady’.
Speaking to ABC’s Good Morning America, Ivana, who is promoting her new book called ‘Raising Trump’, said she often calls Trump in the White House.
"I have the direct number to White House but I don't really want to call him there because Melania is there and I don't really want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that because I'm basically first Trump wife, OK? I'm first lady, OK?" she said.
And even though Ivana is the mother of three of Trump’s children – Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric – Melania didn’t take the comment lying down.
In a statement released to CNN by Melania’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, Melania said she is “honoured by her role as first lady of the United States”.
“She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books.
"There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex, this is unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise."
