The Met Gala 2024 afterparties: The 10 best dressed
If the Met Gala is the red carpet where celebrities get to step out of their style comfort zone and really take some risks with fashion, then the Met Gala afterparties are where they have the most fun. For 2024, a number of A-listers left the museum and headed out to the various parties that were taking place around New York, many slipping into mini dresses that they could dance the night away in.
Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski dipped into Givenchy's Nineties' archives for their looks, while Irina Shayk and Jodie Turner-Smith opted for statement mini dresses and Janelle Monae injected some humour into her look.
Below, we round up the 10 best looks from the Met Gala afterparties. For our round-up of the best fashion from the main event, head this way.
Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner – who attended the Met Gala in a vintage Givenchy gown from Alexander McQueen's tenure at the brand circa 1999 – continued the theme for the afterparty, wearing another look by the designer, this time from his spring/summer 1997 collection. She also stepped out in a custom Vivienne Westwood design with lace and corseting.
Emily Ratajkowski
Also digging into the Givenchy archives for her afterparty look was Emily Ratajkowski who chose this sheer blue mini with tasselled details. The dress was from Alexander McQueen's era at the house, from 1998. She teamed it with statement wraparound heels.
Penelope Cruz
While most of the stars slipped out of their ballgowns into something mini, Penelope Cruz swapped her lace Chanel creation for something equally as elegant, a one-shouldered black evening dress.
Iris Law
Iris Law wore a vintage Versace gown for the main event, but slipped into a corseted white silk ensemble for the afterparty, which included white tights and a slinky scarf wrapped around her head.
Paloma Elsesser
Paloma Elsesser had some fun with her afterparty look in a light pink satin mini dress which featured a bubble hem and an exaggerated conical bra. She accessorised with a veil and a giant ribbon accessory.
Irina Shayk
Irina Shayk also opted for something mini and extremely detailed. The model's dress was completely covered in embellishment, and she teamed it with several choker necklaces, tights and strappy sandals.
Jodie Turner-Smith
For the 2024 Met Gala, Jodie Turner-Smith wore a bridal-appropriate white gown by Burberry, and for the afterparty, she opted for a bright yellow sequin two-piece by the brand.
Janelle Monae
Janelle Monae wore a seriously fun look to the Met Gala afterparty – a mini dress which was completely covered in googly eyes.
FKA Twigs
FKA Twigs was seen dancing up a storm at The Standard's afterparty, where she slipped out of her bejewelled Stella McCartney dress into a one-shouldered nude dress.
Vittoria Ceretti
Model Vittoria Ceretti looked impossibly chic in a white Alaïa gown for the Met Gala, and later switched into sheer black dress and gloves, also by the house.
