Michael Phelps Announces He Is Training for the 2032 Olympics - But He Won't Be the One in the Water!
Michael Phelps has announced he will be training for the 2032 Olympics — training his son Boomer Robert that is.
Phelps, 31, and his family, including wife Nicole, have teamed up with Huggies Little Swimmers to bring awareness to children’s water safety.
And in an adorable campaign video, the 28-time Olympic medalist holds a mock press conference for his 1-year-old baby boy.
“I’m training Boomer and all the babies around the world to be the best swimmers that they can be,” Phelps says. “It’s never too early to introduce your baby to the water.”
As he takes his son into his arms, Phelps can’t help but laugh at his son’s antics, including Boomer’s successful grab for the mic cover, which he promptly places into his mouth.
“Let’s not eat that,” the Olympian says, laughing.

In April, Phelps told PEOPLE that he and Nicole were keeping a close eye on their active son.
“We’re at the stage where we’re constantly looking out for him, because he’s grabbing everything,” he said with a laugh, adding, “Anything he can get his hands on goes in his mouth.”
And although the proud father admitted Boomer has “a pretty short attention span,” the couple’s only child is already showing an interest in the water.
“We basically hop in two or three times a week,” he said of the family’s pool time. “Boomer loves it, he floats around in our hands trying to swim butterfly. He loves being in the water and he doesn’t mind going under.”
