Miley was set to perform on Wednesday in Boston and told her fans via Twitter: "I'm sorry in advance if I am not myself tomorrow Boston. I will try my best to be my best."

Her loss has struck a somber note with her fans; the hashgtag #RIPFloyd is already trending on Twitter.

Floyd has been with the award-winning artist through some of her toughest times this past year. Her pet pooch stood by her side during her split with her former fiancé, "The Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth, through the backlash over her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, and has showered her with kisses, which she regularly documents on Instagram.
