Milla Jovovich thinks she could survive an apocalypse — after all, she's a mom.

The Breathe star, 48, spoke with PEOPLE exclusively ahead of the release of her new apocalyptic thriller, sharing that she's confident she could get through an apocalypse because she can draw from her experience as a mom to her three kids — daughters Ever, 16, Dashiel, 9, and Osian, 4, whom she shares with husband Paul W.S. Anderson.

"I like to think of myself as being super rugged. I definitely have gear here. I have a hunting knife. I watch Naked and Afraid. I've got my flint," Jovovich tells PEOPLE. "I've got some, but what are you going to hunt here? You go to hunt for your nearest Whole Foods."

Asked if she thinks her costar Jennifer Hudson could survive the apocalypse, she adds: "The fact is Jennifer Hudson is a mom. So when you're a mom, things change. You become much more of a problem solver, and you tend to be in the de-escalation business. You're having to constantly be a diffuser of stressful scenarios."

"So I think she would be very even-keeled in this scenario, because when you have kids, that's what you're constantly doing is having to deal with emergencies," she says. "Your kid runs in at 10 p.m. with a bleeding eye, and you're like, 'What?' You become ready to just deal with stuff. You're not screaming. You're not panicking. You're just going to deal with this situation."

"Kids will prepare you for the apocalypse better than anything," Jovovich continues. "It's already a constant apocalypse, almost pre-apocalyptic every single day. You're like, 'What's the next disaster?'"

Earlier this week, Jovivich appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show and explained that her daughter has taken an interest in acting.

The mom of three said that when her daughter was 6, she asked if she could audition now that she knew how to read.

"I’m thinking, Oh my god, I’ve created a monster here. But it was laser-focused. I said, ‘You’ve got to take acting classes! Because now you know how to read, you can read the script but you’ve got to learn to act.’ She was like, ‘Ok. Enroll me in acting class,' " the proud mom recalled.
