Missing Son of Ex-NFL Player Is Found Safe — Both Parents Taken into Custody

Bryson Muir, 14, had been missing since Father's Day

The 14-year-old son of former NFL player Daniel Muir, who went missing more than two weeks ago, has been found alive and safe.

Bryson Muir disappeared on Father's Day after “allegations of domestic battery” were made concerning him, according to a previous Indiana State Police press release.

Bryson was found on July 3 after police searched his parents home in Logansport, Ind., and located the teen and his parents, Indiana State Police announced.

Bryson "appeared safe and well," per police. Both of his parents, Daniel and Kristin Muir, have now been taken into custody in connection with the case.

Daniel, 40, is charged with one count each of obstruction of justice and domestic battery. Kristin, 38, is charged with obstruction of justice.

Investigators previously visited the home and spoke with Daniel, a former NFL defensive lineman, and Kristin about the teen's whereabouts. Initially, they showed "signs of cooperation," according to state police, and agreed to bring Bryson to meet with investigators on Friday, June 28. However, the couple allegedly “backed out of that arrangement, which signaled an unwillingness to cooperate,” per state police.

While Bryson was missing, Indiana State Police issued an Indiana Silver Alert for him. The alert said Bryson "is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.”

In the alert, there were two photos of Bryson. In one of them, he had a swollen eye.

It is unclear if Daniel and Kristin have retained attorneys to speak on their behalf. Bryson is currently in custody of the Cass County Department of Child Services.
