Motorcyclist killed in Southern Motorway crash
A motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a truck on Auckland's Southern Motorway, causing traffic chaos south of the city.
The crash happened in the city-bound lanes near Walter Strevens Bridge in Takanini at around 7.30am on Tuesday.
Due to serious crash on Sthn Mwy #AklTraffic around Papakura area is heavily congested. Pls avoid travel unless absolutely necessary ^TP

A queue of traffic was stretching 9k to Drury by 8am, and the New Zealand Transport Agency said all northbound lanes were closed.

The motorway has since been reopened, but there were still delays for commuters.

Drivers are being warned to delay their commute or take alternative routes.
