Mum's mortifying mistake sending kids' party invites goes viral on TikTok: 'I would die'

More than 23,000 people have commented on Emily King's Evite disaster video.

A popular TikToker has gone viral after sharing the “nightmare” moment when she accidentally invited all 487 of her phone contacts to her daughter’s birthday party. Creator and teacher Emily King, known under the TikTok handle @twodachshundkings, posted a video to her 45,000 followers explaining the mishap – a video which has now been viewed more than 12 million times.

“I just made an Evite for my daughter’s first birthday party and on Evite it says ‘import contacts?’ and I thought it meant import to select through,” King said in the opening of the video. “No – it imported all 487 of my contacts and invited them to this birthday party.

“Not only did it invite my boss, all of my co-workers, all of the people that have ever been stored in my phone, but it sent the invitation based on how they are stored in my phone,” she continued. “‘And I want you to just take a second and think about everyone stored in your phone and how they’re stored in your phone, and then imagine them receiving an invitation."

Somewhere between crying and laughing she continued, "Derek EYE ROLL. He received an invitation. Jess hit her car in the parking lot...anyway, I have to quit or get a new identity.”

TikTokers share hilarious phone contact names

King’s followers were quick to state their shared embarrassment for her with a series of hilarious comments under the video.

“This should qualify you for witness protection,” one of 23,000 commenters said.

“Imagining all my old Tinder dates getting an Evite to my daughter’s party,” another follower wrote.

“I have someone saved as ‘restraining order’,” a third commenter sympathised.

“I haven’t deleted a number since 2011, I’d be inviting exes and their whole families,” another chimed in.

Other followers also shared the various aliases saved in their phones while imagining the horror of being in King’s situation.

“I would die if ‘Mark still owes me $100’ came to my son’s birthday,” a commenter relayed, while another said “I would die if ‘Gary DO NOT ANSWER’ came”.

“I wonder if ‘Sarah weird downstairs lady’ is coming,” another said.

“I have my neighbour stored as ‘creep with the Jeep,” a fellow follower said in a comment with more than 20,000 likes.

'Second hand emotional distress' for Evite mishap

One TikTok user related to the invitation debacle, explaining how they accidentally emailed their entire international company their shoe size. “HR needed it for our beach party favours, everyone called me ‘size 5’ from that point onwards,” they said.

“So many people in my phone have the last name Bumble,” one of the comments read.

Even the official DoorDash TikTok account commented saying they were “getting second hand emotional distress”.

“I would be SPIRALLING,” another user lamented.
