Murder investigation launched after death of man in Hackney

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Hackney.

Police attended an address in Lansdowne Drive, close to London Fields, around 12.30am on Monday, January 29, following concerns for the welfare of the occupant.

Officer arrived at the property and found a dead man inside.

A Met police spokesman said on Thursday: “Enquiries continue to identify and notify his next of kin.

“A post-mortem examination held on Wednesday, 31 January concluded that the man died as a result of injuries consistent with an assault.

“A murder investigation has now been launched, led by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command and enquiries are ongoing.

“Two men, aged 41 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They were taken into custody where they remain.

“A crime scene is in place.”
