NBA betting: Golden State is favored to win 2023 NBA Finals, too

The 2022 NBA season is over, and that means betting on the 2023 NBA Finals can begin.

The odds for next year's champion were posted at BetMGM right after the Golden State Warriors wrapped up their fourth championship in Boston on Thursday night. And, not surprisingly, the Warriors are the early favorites to win next season too.

BetMGM also released 2022-23 NBA MVP odds, and Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is the favorite at +500. Back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic is fourth on the list at +850. Luka Doncic is second at +550 and Giannis Antetokounmpo is third at +700.

Here are the opening odds at BetMGM for the 2023 NBA champion:

Golden State Warriors +550
Boston Celtics +650
Brooklyn Nets +700
Los Angeles Clippers +700
Milwaukee Bucks +800
Phoenix Suns +900
Dallas Mavericks +1400
Denver Nuggets +1400
Los Angeles Lakers +1400
Memphis Grizzlies +1400
Miami Heat +1400
Philadelphia 76ers +1400

Every other team opened up at +4000 odds or longer.

Golden State had a fine season and will be loaded again next season, especially with Klay Thompson not rehabbing a major injury like he was a year ago. But winning back-to-back championships is hard, and that could open up a good value bet on someone else down the odds list.

The NBA is going away for a while, but it's never too early to start thinking about future bets.
