Nick Jonas, Adrienne Warren Starring on Broadway in ‘The Last Five Years’

Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren will team up for the first-ever Broadway production of Jason Robert Brown’s “The Last Five Years.” The musical, a look at the flowering and dissolution of a romantic relationship, was first produced at  Chicago’s Northlight Theatre in 2001. It later mounted an Off Broadway show and inspired a 2014 film with Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan.

In the new production, Jonas will portray an up-and-coming author named Jamie, while Warren will play an aspiring actress named Cathy. The two-person show follows them as they fall in and out of love over the course of five years.

Jonas is no stranger to the Great White Way, having appeared in the 2012 revival of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and, more recently, a residency with the Jonas Brothers in 2023. Warren won a Tony for her galvanic performance as Tina Turner in “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.” She was also nominated for a Tony for her supporting role in “Shuffle Along.”

Brown, who wrote the music, the lyrics and the book for “The Last Five Years,” is a Tony winner whose work includes “Parade” and “The Bridges of Madison County.”

“The Last Five Years” will be directed by Whitney White, who recently oversaw the acclaimed production of “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding.” It will open on Broadway in the spring of 2025.

“’The Last Five Years’ is one of the greatest original American musicals in the canon. I could not be more excited to bring it to Broadway for the first time with Nick and Adrienne, two powerhouse performers and lovers of theatre,” said White.
