Nickelodeon’s ‘Toxic Environment’ During Dan Schneider’s Reign Examined in ID Docuseries Trailer

An upcoming ID docuseries takes a deep dive into the alleged “house of horrors” that was Nickelodeon during prolific producer Dan Schneider’s time at the network.

In the above trailer for Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, several Nickelodeon alumni — including All That cast members Giovonnie Samuels, Kyle Sullivan and Bryan Hearne — speak out about the “toxic environment” that Schneider allegedly fostered while overseeing series like Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, iCarly, Victorious and Sam & Cat.

“Working for Dan was like being in an abusive relationship,” one unnamed Nickelodeon veteran claims, while another recalls filing complaints against Schneider for gender discrimination, a hostile work environment and harassment. But the doc also focuses on three other men, called “predators” in the trailer, who worked at Nickelodeon for a short period of time and were allegedly “actual pedophiles on set” during their tenure. One of the men in question is Brian Peck, who appeared on episodes of All That and The Amanda Show and, in 2004, was convicted of a lewd act against a child and oral copulation of a person under 16.

The Nickelodeon child star who Peck abused has not previously been named, but the Quiet on Set trailer hints that Peck’s victim may finally speak out on camera.

Schneider, meanwhile, was dropped from Nickelodeon in 2018. At the time, it was reported that “multiple complaints of abusive behavior” had been filed against Schneider by members of his staff. Then, in 2021, it was reported that ViacomCBS had conducted an internal investigation of Schneider ahead of his departure from Nickelodeon; evidence of verbal abuse was found in that investigation, though evidence of sexual misconduct was not.

Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV will air on ID on Sunday, March 17, and Monday, March 18, from 9 to 11 pm both nights. Watch the docuseries’ full trailer above.
