“OutDaughtered”: Danielle Busby Prepares to Confront '40 Years of Feelings' as She Attends Therapy for First Time (Exclusive)

In PEOPLE's exclusive look at the June 18 episode, Danielle's therapist reminds her to put her oxygen mask on first, but she questions how to do that as a mom of six

Danielle Busby is working on putting herself first.

The OutDaughtered star, 40, attends therapy for the first time in PEOPLE's exclusive look at the June 18 episode, and she opens up about how hard it is for her to juggle her own mental health while being a mom of six.

"I think sometimes a lot of people are afraid, because [they think] if I start crying, I don't know how to stop," the therapist says.

"I just – I don't like to do it," Danielle replies, as the therapist reminds her, "You have to put yourself first."

"Like. if you fly on any plane, they're going to tell you, 'Put the oxygen mask on yourself before you assist anybody else.' Same thing in life, you know what I mean?" the therapist adds.

In a confessional, Danielle admits, "I'm not even sure I know how to put my oxygen mask on first before I do for my children."

She and her husband Adam Busby share daughters Blayke, 13, and quintuplet 9-year-olds Parker, Riley, Ava, Olivia and Hazel.

Danielle knows she wants to be "mentally, physically well-rounded for my family," and starting to explore therapy is part of that journey, she explains.

"But I don't know really what that would look like. And I'm not even sure how long it takes to get there and what I need to do," she says.

"I mean, I'm turning 40 this year, and that's 40 years of feelings," she adds. "That's a lot of therapy."

On the June 4 episode, Danielle's autoimmune disorder flared up due to the stress of trying to find an extra set of hands — leaving her bedridden and Adam alone to wrangle the girls to school.

"For her to have a bad day, like, any given day — I have to be prepared all the time," Adam said. "You just never know when it's going to hit. It's frustrating, but I don't want her to think I'm frustrated at her. I'm frustrated with this situation that no one understands."
