Designers and their muses have revealed an enterprising new way to flash some flesh this season by bringing the humble knicker back into focus. Tag-Walk the fashion search engine’s data reveals that over a third of the spring/summer 2024 shows had knickers on show - including Chloé, Christian Dior and Simone Rocha. All collections designed by women.

Emma Corrin led the way on Miu Miu’s autumn/winter 2023 catwalk and then followed it up off-catwalk at the Venice Film Festival as they paired a pair with a button-up cardigan and bookish brogues.

Kendall Jenner has regularly forgot her trousers in Bottega Veneta teamed with tights and a navy crew-neck jumper and Jodie Turner-Smith has even got her knickers in a twist with a heightened sense of glamour on the red carpet.

This new mood of barely there dressing offers up a fresh talking point, and better still is led by a cohort of women designers. “I love it! If I were younger, I would go out in panties,” chimed Miuccia Prada.
