Perrie Edwards with a jet-black, hacked hairstyle was not on my bingo card for today

As experimental as we all may like to believe we are – that is, in the beauty department, because hey, I'm all for a gothic smoky eye on a Monday office morning – signature looks are inevitable. I look to my right and my colleague, Elena has her hair scraped back into her signature sleek bun, followed by a glance over to Alex, Cosmo's fashion writer who is rocking her signature pin-straight lengths. As for me, well, I'm a little more versatile (wink, nudge) but more often than not, I am sporting my signature 'I woke up like this' bob – aka, a brush-through last night's air-dried wash will do.

Now, as much as I would like to continue waxing lyrical about the iconic tresses of Cosmopolitan HQ, what brings me to such a topic of conversation is Perrie Edwards' new 'do. To put it quite simply, she's ditched her signature blonde locks for a jet-black look – aand it features a gothic, hacked style, too. Cue the audible gasps.

Said new look arrived on our feeds via a Numéro Netherlands photo shoot on Instagram; Perrie was captured by photographer Simon Lipman for the brand's 'Digital Cover of the day'. Scroll through the below to see all that I'm describing, plus, a further two hair makeovers.

As one fan puts it in the comments section of the post: "This is unbelievable 👏 Congrats to the whole team, the concept it's amazing!! I didn't recognize Perrie at first sight."

Of course, we must speculate that the shaggy black wolf cut, blonde mullet and hip-skimming mermaid waves are all variations of wigs, extensions and/or clip-in hair pieces. After all, it was only yesterday [16 June, 2024] that Perrie attended the Summertime Ball with her trademark sunkissed lengths.

Alas, while the raven coloured 'do may only have been a fleeting experiment, there's no denying how stunning the singer looked. My versatility (albeit, impressive, even if I do say so myself) could never... jealous, much.
