When she pinched a nerve while working on a photoshoot back in January, Playboy model Katie May did what many people would do and decided to see a chiropractor.

However in a tragic accident that saw her family decide to switch off life support, the popular Snapchat personality suffered a “catastrophic” stroke following her treatment.
The 34-year-old had only the day of her treatment, tweeted to her followers about her condition.
Pinched a nerve in my neck on a Photoshoot and got adjusted this morning. It really hurts! Any home remedy suggestions loves? XOXO

Tragically, the model died a few days after posting the tweet with her father Joe revealing his daughter’s death was the result of “vertebral artery dissection”, or the manipulation of the neck which then tore an artery leading to the brain.
"I would tell any guy or girl who goes to a doctor—and I've told them—don't touch my neck," Joe told ABC Eyewitness News.
For those who are worried about visiting a chiropractor, experts say this kind of injury isn’t common but it does happen.
“It’s a chance issue,” vice chair of the department of neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital Aneesh Singhal told SELF.
“However, it’s possible that people who eventually get a dissection have some structural abnormalities of the wall of the artery.”
Katie leaves behind her seven-year-old daughter, Mia, with a crowdfunding page set up to support the family.
