Step aside, Sanderson sisters — another group of witchy siblings is back.

Following in 2022’s Hocus Pocus 2’s footsteps, 1998’s fan-favorite Practical Magic will be receiving a sequel, with Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock set to reprise their roles, PEOPLE confirmed in June 2024.

The original movie, based on the 1995 novel of the same name, stars Kidman and Bullock as the Owens sisters, a pair of witches who are fighting off a curse that kills the men they fall in love with.

I love that movie,” Kidman said of Practical Magic when she reunited with Bullock at the 2018 Academy Awards red carpet. “I showed that movie to my kids. It’s a little above their [level of understanding]… But we’re really good sisters.”

In 2019, HBO attempted a new take on the movie with a series titled Rules of Magic, which was supposed to be based on the prequel novel, but it never came to fruition, per Variety. Now, the two Oscar-winning actresses are ready to bring the sequel to life.

From who’s in the cast to who’s making the movie, here’s everything to know about Practical Magic 2.

In June 2024, Kidman and Bullock both confirmed they were returning to star in Practical Magic 2 as Gillian and Sally, respectively.

"Yes I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it. And that's that," Kidman told PEOPLE. "There's a lot more to tell which is why we go, 'OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.' "

She added, "[We] found a way in."

Both actresses will also produce the movie alongside Denise Di Novi, while A Beautiful Mind’s Akiva Goldsman has been tapped to write the screenplay.

Before the sequel was announced, Bullock and Kidman reflected on their love for the original movie in the over 20 years since its release.

In October 2019, Today resurfaced a clip of Bullock discussing the movie with Katie Couric, reflecting on her relationship with Kidman while they were shooting.

“I had such a great time,” Bullock said. “And the fact is, we don’t have anything in common, except for at the dinner table with a bottle of wine and everything sort of blends together.”

She also reminisced about the filming of the “midnight margaritas” scene, in which she and Kidman, as well as costars Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, danced around the kitchen while drunk, revealing that Kidman may have poured one too many at one point.

“We weren’t drunk when we shot these parts or when we did our close-ups,” Bullock said. “But we had to reshoot a scene where it was far away and we were on our backs and Nicole just put the bottle on the table and said, ‘You know what? There’s no reason we shouldn’t be drunk here.’ And I said, ‘You know what? That’s true.' "
