Princess Beatrice gets two new titles after royal wedding
She might already be a member of the royal family, but after marrying Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi over the weekend, Princess Beatrice has acquired two new roles.
The 31-year-old said ‘I do’ to Edo in a private ceremony at Windsor Castle, wearing a stunning vintage dress on loan from the Queen and refitted by Her Majesty’s dress maker, Angela Kelly, and Stewart Parvin.
Edoardo is descended from Italian aristocracy
Edoardo is the son of Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi and Nikki Shale from the Italian royal House of Savoy and has a three-year-old son Christopher ‘Wolfie’ Woolf from his previous marriage with Chinese-American architect Dara Huang.
According to Edoardo’s dad, this means that Princess Beatrice has received a fancy new aristocratic title.
“Edoardo is the only male descendent taking the family into the next generation,” his father told The Daily Mail.
“He is a count — his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna.”
It’s believed that just like her younger sister, Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice will drop the ‘York’ from her title.
Princess Beatrice is now a stepmother
However, it’s not just noble titles Beatrice has acquired, as since Edoardo is a father, the royal has now also become a stepmother.
Edo and Wolfie’s mother, Dara, are believed to be on amicable terms, with Edo telling The Telegraph last year how they co-parent the tot.
“I take [Christopher] to school a couple of mornings a week and finish in time to put him in bed three or four evenings,” he said.
Edo and Beatrice tie the knot
The couple had been due to get married on 29 May at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace in London, followed by a reception in the garden of Buckingham Palace. However, the service was postponed due to the coronavirus.
Due to the recent relaxation of lockdown rules, wedding ceremonies are currently allowed in England, but with no more than 30 people in attendance.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were married in a small family ceremony on Friday 17th July. The ceremony took place at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor, with the kind permission of Her Majesty The Queen,” the palace confirmed at the time.
“The couple decided to hold a small private ceremony with their parents and siblings following the postponement of their wedding in May. Working within government guidelines, the service was in keeping with the unique circumstances while enabling them to celebrate their wedding with their closest family.”
