The Resident Tops Nielsen’s Overall Streaming Ranking Chart

The Resident rose to the top of Nielsen’s overall streaming ranking for the week of April 1, two weeks after an “enhancement” was made to Nielsen’s Streaming Content Ratings product to better tally a subset of acquired programs that’d been previously unavailable for external reporting.

Up a spot from last week, The Resident racked up nearly 1.2 billion minutes viewed across its 103-episode library (which lives both on Hulu and Netflix). It was followed on the overall streaming ranking by another medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy (1.15 billion minutes viewed/425 episodes on Hulu and Netflix), and then Bluey (1.08 billion minutes/151 available episodes).

Last week’s overall ranking champ, 3 Body Problem, slipped to No. 5 on that chart — though the Netflix sci-fi drama dominated Netflix’s U.S. ranking of streaming originals for a third straight week, with 937 million minutes viewed across eight episodes.

Four more Netflix programs followed: Filed of the Unexplained at No. 2 with 683 million minutes viewed across eight episodes, Is It Cake? (669 million minutes/16 episodes), Ripley (510 million minutes/eight episodes) and The Gentlemen (495 million minutes/eight episodes).

Rounding out Nielsen’s ranking of streaming originals for the week of April 1 were FX’s Shōgun (434 million minutes viewed/seven available episodes), and four totally real, not-made-up Netflix entries: Physical: 100 Underground (403 million minutes/nine episodes), Testament: The Story of Moses (336 million minutes/three episodes), Parasyte: The Grey (318 million minutes/six episodes) and The Magic Prank Show (274 million minutes/six episodes).
