Sarah Snook recalls being body-shamed and told she was a 'nobody' by film producer

Sarah Snook was body-shamed and called a "nobody" for eating a small bite of chocolate cake by a movie producer.
The Golden Globe winner - who just landed her second Golden Globe and second Critics Choice Award for her portrayal of Shiv Roy in the HBO drama series - has recalled being told she would have to drastically change her appearance to make it big in Hollywood.
She told The Sunday Times: "One particular day, I had the tiniest bit of chocolate cake.
"All the while I am dying inside."
The 36-year-old actress continued: "We don't really want you because you're a nobody, but the director and the writer think you're good for the role.
"So, what we'll do is change all of you so that you're marketable: We'll whiten your teeth, darken your hair, we'll give you a personal trainer so you can lose weight and look the part."
Sarah agreed to the changes because she thought that was how it worked in the movie business.
She said: "In order for me to be successful, I have to be all the things that aren’t me."
In her acceptance speech for Best Actress – Television Series Drama at this month's Globes, she noted how the show changed her life.
She said: "This show… it's changed my life.
"Everybody in it was amazing - the cast, the crew are fantastic. This was a team effort. It was always a team and that's what made the show amazing to be a part of."
Sarah previously won Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film at the 2022 ceremony.
And she's just landed Best Actress in a Drama Series at Sunday's (14.01.24) Critics Choice Awards, where she reunited with her co-star Kieran Culkin, 41, who also won Best Actor for his role as Roman Roy.
The 'Run Rabbit Run' star won Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series two years ago.
