Savannah Chrisley Reveals How Parents Todd and Julie Have Been Communicating 13 Months into Prison Sentences

The 'Unlocked' podcast host said her parents "have not gotten to speak to each other on the phone" but have found other ways to stay in contact while in prison

Being in prison has not kept Todd and Julie Chrisley from speaking to each other, though the matter in which they can communicate has been less than ideal.

On Monday's episode of The Adversity Advantage Podcast, their daughter Savannah Chrisley revealed to host Doug Bopst the challenges her imprisoned parents have faced when trying to communicate with each other behind bars.

"When you look at our prison system and they like to say, 'Oh, we pride ourselves on trying to keep families together,' we don't do that at all because my parents, they have not gotten to speak to each other on the phone," the Unlocked podcast host, 26, said. "It has been a year and they have been together for 30 years and they have not gotten to speak to each other."

However, Savanah noted that "they get to email back and forth," noting that they use an app where they "have to add people to their contact list" and she later approves.

"But emails are delayed. You never know if they're going to get them. You just don't know," she continued. "They can't send mail via postal service."

Further illustrating how writing letters via mail isn't an option, she alleged that "part of the retaliation has been correctional officers stealing their mail."

Explaining how Todd, 55, and Julie, 51, "haven't heard each other's voice in a year," she said that's been the "really tough part" of the process. However, the longtime couple — who wed in 1996 — have also been communicating through Savannah.

"Every call I have with my mom is 'Please tell your dad how much I love him' and every call with dad is 'Please tell your mom how much I love her,'" she added. "There is not a single call that they don't say that."

Todd and Julie reported to prison in January 2023 to serve a combined 19-year sentence for fraud and tax evasion. About one month before heading to Federal Prison Camp Pensacola and Federal Medical Center Lexington, respectively, the couple filed an appeal to their case.

The two Chrisley Knows Best stars were later reduced in September 2023. Two months later, Savannah confirmed that her parents were granted oral arguments, meaning that their attorney would get to make an argument for their release.

"One step closer to getting mom and dad home," she added in her Instagram video.
