Television producer Eric Weinberg will face trial over multiple accusations of sexual assault, The New York Times, Variety and Deadline report.

The Scrubs producer was arrested in July 2022 in connection with the alleged sexual assault of several women from 2012 and 2019 in Los Angeles, Calif., the LAPD said in a statement at the time.

Weinberg, 63, was later charged with several counts of forcible rape and assault of five women between 2014 and 2019, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced in October 2022

On Tuesday, a Los Angeles County judge announced that Weinberg will face trial over 28 counts of sexual battery and rape charges, The New York Times and Variety report.

The judge made the ruling after days of hearing testimony from Weinberg's alleged victims, whom he allegedly met through various platforms including a modeling website and a dating app, per Variety.

Several women said during their testimony that they feared for their life during the alleged attacks, per Variety.

Aside from the dating app and modeling website, Weinberg allegedly targeted the women — who were in their 20-30s — at grocery stores and coffee shops, among other locations, and presented himself as a photographer, the LAPD said in their July 2022 statement.

He would allegedly schedule photoshoots with the women, and once they were in his residence, would sexually assault them, police claim.

Weinberg was initially released after posting $5 million bond, per Gascón’s statement on Oct. 5, 2022.

Later that month, a judge revoked his bail and Weinberg was remanded back into custody.

Following Weinberg's arrest, LAPD received more than 70 tips in connection with the allegations against him, Deputy District Attorney Marlene Martinez said at the time, per The Los Angeles Times.

In his Oct. 5, 2022 statement, the D.A. alleged Weinberg used his power and fame to lure his victims.

“The defendant relied on his Hollywood credentials to lure young women for photo shoots where he allegedly sexually assaulted them,” Gascón said. “Power and influence can corrupt some to hurt others that often leads to a lifetime of trauma for those who are victimized."

During a court proceeding on Oct. 25, 2022, Martinez said Weinberg is a "danger" to society and to all women, Deadline reported.

"He goes up to any young woman and uses his status as a writer-producer to lure them in. He is a danger to all females," Martinez said, per the outlet.
