Simone Biles Hypes Up Girl Who Made History as First Black Cowgirl to Compete on TV: ‘BLACK GIRL MAGIC’
The 7x Olympic gold medalist said she wanted to "be a cowgirl so bad" when she was younger
Simone Biles shared a surprising fact about herself while hyping up Kortnee Solomon, a young girl who made history as the first Black cowgirl to compete on TV in 2021.
The seven-time Olympic gold medalist, 26, reposted a graphic of Solomon, now 14, competing in the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo, the longest-running Black rodeo circuit in America.
The text over the image read, "Meet the 11-year-old cowgirl who made history as the first Black cowgirl to compete at a nationally televised rodeo."
Although the graphic is a bit outdated, Biles was thrilled to celebrate Solomon's accolade during Women's History Month and told fans she wanted to be a cowgirl when she was younger.
"YES MA'AM," Biles wrote in her post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday. "Go girl go girl!!!"
Biles added, "When I was younger I used to want to be a cowgirl so bad & someone told me there was no black cowgirls, so I hung my cowgirl hat up!"
The Olympian signed off her post, "LOOK NOW WAHOO! GO KORTNEE! BLACK GIRL MAGIC!!"

According to Andscape, Kortnee debuted in the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo when she was just 5 years old, though the tournament was not televised at the time.
Kortnee comes from a long line of rodeo professionals, the outlet reported. Her mom, Kanesha Jackson, is an 11-time invitational champion, and her father, Cory, is a tie-down roper for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
And Kanesha's mother, Stephanie Hayes, sits on the board of directors for the invitational as an 18-time champion.

The Olympian seemed to be embracing her love of the rodeo through her style. While Biles enjoyed some vacation time in Oahu, Hawaii, with her husband, Green Bay Packers player Jonathan Owens, two weeks ago during the NFL offseason, she added some cowgirl touches.
Biles posted a series of bikini snaps from this island, showing off her cowgirl hat and accessorizing with a silver navel ring, an embellished heart pendant necklace and sporting white nail polish.
“Dress code: bikini,” Biles wrote in the caption.

She also jokingly warned her 7.1 million followers, “Prepare to be sick of me,” as she posted photos of her and Owens on their plane journey.
And Biles appeared to be a big fan of Oahu, joking that she was ready to move.
“Point me to the nearest realtor,” Biles wrote in the caption as she posted photos of herself twirling on a grassy hill, overlooking a nearby beach.
