Sofia Richie's Newborn Daughter Has Sweet Nod to Elliot Grainge's Late Mother in Her Name

Sofia Richie made a meaningful choice for her daughter's middle name.

On Friday, May 24th, the 25-year-old model revealed on Instagram that she and husband Elliot Grainge had welcomed their daughter only four days earlier.

"Eloise Samantha Grainge 🤍 5•20•24 best day of my life 🤍," Richie captioned the sweet black-and-white photo of her daughter's feet.

The middle name Samantha holds special significance for the couple. The name honors Grainge's late mother, Samantha Berg, who suffered complications during childbirth, which led to a coma that she remained in until she died in 2007.

The news of Richie's daughter's birth comes only a few weeks after she after she shared snaps of her baby bump on May 6, counting down the final days of pregnancy.

“Waiting on you baby girl,” the model wrote at the time on her Instagram Stories, which included a profile of her baby bump as she sported a white tank top and cream colored pants.

Richie later shared a similar photo on her Instagram grid, writing “9 months of bliss 💕🕊️," as she posed from the side.

The couple, who were married in April 2023, told Vogue earlier this year that they were expecting their first child. In the interview, Richie also shared details about their gender reveal party.

“I love the YouTubes and the TikToks — even before I was talking about getting pregnant — of gender reveals, so we had our OB text my assistant Becca [our baby’s gender], and we bought two party poppers: one blue, one pink," Richie said.

"She left out the one with the correct color inside, and Elliot and I popped it together. We both really thought it was a boy, so it was a true shock," she continued. "My dream in life is to have a daughter [though], and Elliot is really excited for a girl too."
