Sofia Vergara Reacts to Kelly Clarkson Minimizing Her Griselda Make-Under: ‘Don’t Be Jealous!’ — WATCH

We’re a bit late to this viral moment from a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, but it’s too “rubbernecking at a car crash” not to get in front of your eyeballs.

Sofia Vergara was a guest on Wednesday’s episode of Clarkson’s daytime talker to promote Griselda, the new Netflix series in which the Modern Family knockout underwent a significant physical transformation (via make-up, prosthetics, etc;) to play the titular, real-life figure.

Or, to hear Clarkson tell it, maybe the transformation wasn’t that big a deal…?

Now streaming all six episodes on Netflix, Griselda is described as “a fictionalized dramatization inspired by the life of the savvy and ambitious Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most powerful cartels in history.” Set in 1970s-’80s Miami, Blanco’s blend of “unsuspected savagery and charm” helps her expertly navigate between business and family, leading her to become widely known as the Godmother.

During Vergara’s visit to The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson aimed to express awe at how “slight” Vergara’s make-under was — with the best (if ill-phrased) intentions, to be sure — but her guest’s double-take, side-eye and raised voice made clear the framing was not appreci– er, accurate.

“I feel like they only changed your nose,” Clarkson says in the clip above, starting at the 8:15 mark. To which Vergara loudly interjected, as if Manny or Jay had just said something unconscionable, “WHAT?! Are you crazy??”

Clarkson did her best to backtrack/rephrase her POV — “Whatever they did, it looks slight” — with precious little success.

“No, Kelly. It was hours” in the make-up chair to look anything like the real-life Griselda, Vergara asserted. “Don’t be jealous!”

Clarkson continued to fight off the flop sweat — “The slight change completely changed your being,” she tried to contend — at which point Vergara playfully (?) begged the host to simply “Shut up!”

“It was a lot!” said Vergara, rattling off the multi-phase transformation process. “It was teeth, it was wig, it was nose, it was plastic from here to here….”

A detente was eventually reached, but man, that was nail-biter TV for a good minute there.
