The summer of fast food meal deals is heating up even more. The latest fast food restaurant to enter the value menu war is Sonic, and they're offering quite the deal.

This week, Sonic launched its $1.99 menu, a new offering that's loaded with burgers, wraps, sides, shakes, and more. The new menu has something for just about everyone, including:

  • Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger

  • Chili Cheese Coney

  • Bacon Ranch Queso Wrap

  • Southwest Crunch Queso Wrap

  • Small Tots

  • Any of the 12 flavors of SONIC Shakes (16 oz.)

The best part about the $1.99 menu—aside from an Oreo Cheesecake milkshake for just two bucks—is that it's here to stay. This is a departure from other newly introduced value meals from chains like Wendy's, Burger King, and McDonald's that are only available for the summer.

Sonic even threw some shade at their value meal competitors, calling them out for offering "tired discounts" and "boring meals."

“Now more than ever, consumers are focused on affordable food options, but they shouldn’t have to settle for the same old, tired discounts or boring meals. Many restaurant brands are touting value meals and discounts, and you see a lot of recycled ideas with limited options," said Ryan Dickerson, Chief Marketing Officer of SONIC, in a statement.

Shots fired!

Looks like Sonic is winning the summer value menu wars—that is, until the next competitor comes along.
