Stretch of Lougheed Highway closed as WorkSafeBC investigates crane incident: Burnaby RCMP
A stretch of Lougheed Highway has been closed in both directions as WorkSafeBC investigates an incident involving a crane, RCMP say.
Lougheed Highway between Gilmore Avenue and Madison Avenue is expected to be closed for several hours and drivers are asked to find alternate routes, Burnaby RCMP said Friday afternoon.
In a statement, WorkSafeBC, a provincial agency that promotes workplace safety across the province, confirmed it is investigating an incident that happened on Thursday night involving a crane at a site near Lougheed Highway in Burnaby.
WorkSafeBC officers attended the scene and issued orders to stop the use of a tower crane and another piece of machinery, on Thursday night. They also issued a stop-work order to keep the road closure in place.
The RCMP will provide an update on social media when the highway reopens.
