Charlotte Hawkins has been confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2017.

The presenter made the announcement while presenting Good Morning Britain earlier today (August 21), alongside her co-hosts Kate Garraway, Jeremy Kyle and Richard Arnold.

She said: "The 11th celebrity to be confirmed is... Me!

"Nobody knows. I've kept this news secret from everyone, so I'm really sorry to my friends, to my family and everyone I've kept it from.

"I feel a little bad because I've kept saying, 'No, no, I'm not doing Strictly. In my dreams, I wish' – but I am. I had to keep it secret."

Charlotte went on to reveal that she does have some dancing experience that may help her to win the BBC dancing competition.

She admitted: "Well, I did do dancing as a child. I used to do a bit of ballet. I also like to dance around the kitchen with my two-year-old – but I'm not sure if that counts?"

Kate and Richard have both competed in Strictly before and so brought in a box of treats for Charlotte that might help her on her Strictly journey.

The surprise box include packs of plasters, false eyelashes and of course fake tan.

Commenting on the gifts, Charlotte laughed: "Thank you! I shall be getting all my tips from you!"

In her official Strictly statement, Charlotte added that she was "thrilled" to be taking part in the show.

"I've always been a big fan of the show," she continued. "It is a dream come true to be taking part and I'll be following in the footsteps of my Good Morning Britain colleagues.

"I'm looking forward to stepping out from behind the news desk to cha-cha-cha my way across the dancefloor!"

Charlotte now joins the likes of comedian Brian Conley, This Morning's Ruth Langsford, former Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson, former JLS star Aston Merrygold as well as EastEnders' Davood Ghadami, who plays Kush Kazemi.

There's also Holby City's Joe McFadden, The Saturdays singer Mollie King, BBC Radio 4 favourite Reverend Richard Coles, Sunday Brunch star Simon Rimmer and finally, Susan Calman, who presents on Radio 4 and CBBC show Top Class.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am. Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One next month.
