Former Home and Away actress Tammin Sursok has opened up about the eating disorder she developed while filming the hit Aussie show in the '00s, saying she was surprised the wider team didn't pick up on her struggles. The Aussie star revealed at the peak of her disease she weighed only 42kg, lost two teeth and her stomach lining, and thought she was going to die, aged 24.

Speaking with Jessica Rowe on The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show, Tammin got candid about what she called "years of rock bottom".

"I mean, it was a different time then, but how did they not know? How did they not say anything?" Tammin queried about the Home and Away team. Speaking of the acting industry in general, Tammin said it was like they "almost celebrated it".

"It wasn't a moment of rock bottom, it was years of rock bottom, and I was just like 'I'm done'," Tammin revealed.

Fans rallied around the star thanking her for sharing her story. "I can relate to the years of rock bottom. Tammin, sending you strength and love," one person commented.

"That's heartbreaking, I always as a young girl looked up to her I thought she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Sending her so much love and I hope she sees how beautiful she is :)," another person said.

It's not the first time the Pretty Little Liars star has opened up about her disorder, saying she was bullied as a child for being overweight. In a 2019 interview with Today Extra, she told Richard Wilkins and Brooke Boney that once she hit 25, she didn't want life to be "any more of a struggle".

"I wanted to stop, I choose happiness. It was scary for me to actually say it,” she said about her eating disorder. “The minute I said it out loud I felt freedom. So it was a long time, it was through the Home and Away days. It isn't easy being on television and trying to be perfect. I think we all struggle with that idea of perfectionism.”

She's also shared post on her Instagram before, saying at the height of her disorder all she'd consume is half a pack of rice things and coffee.

"I was dying to be perfect. The illusion of perfection that one cannot attain," she wrote on one post."For perfection is a road that never reaches a destination. I was not well for 8 years. 15yrs old - 23 years old. 8 years of torture I put myself through to remain slim after I had been tormented as an overweight kid."
