Tarek El Moussa showed off a six-pack (and more!), in a recent Instagram post, sharing that he was "an overweight, chain-smoking alcoholic, who was always stressed!” before embarking on his fitness journey.

The Selling Sunset alum, 42, shared the shirtless beachside pic, writing, “Sooooo….it’s been a few years since I posted a knockoff male model photo but hey….I’m finally in shape🤣🤣🤣!”

The HGTV host continued, “No joke, 3 years ago I bought a scale and when I saw my health metrics I freaked out and went to the gym the next day! Over the last three years I’ve been in the gym almost every day with my buddy and fitness expert @seantorbati.”

This isn’t the first time El Moussa has been vocal about his fitness journey, previously sharing an older photo with wife Heather Rae El Moussa, 36, that showed how far he’d come.

“The reason I’m sharing it is because it shows me coming out of a yoga class with my wife and is PROOF that sometimes you think you’re doing the right thing but what you actually need is redirection in order to see growth,” he wrote.

“In that photo I was doing some hot yoga, wasn’t really on any kind of schedule, wasn’t tracking my protein intake, and didn’t really have any guidance.”

El Moussa has been opening up about his physical — and mental — health, sharing his journey in his new book, Flip Your Life: How to Find Opportunity in Distress—in Real Estate, Business, and Life.

In it, he shared that he had a painkiller addiction following a back injury. He added that after his 2016 split from ex-wife Christina Hall, “My mental health was as bad as it had ever been.”

These days, the HGTV star has a more optimistic outlook. As El Moussa previously shared in a 2023 Instagram post, “I’m taking the right supplements, I’m eating the right food & Hot yoga 1-2 times a week which is so good for my mental & physical state. It all comes down to motivation and perseverance.”

The Flipping 101 host then revealed his motivation for putting a more stringent health and fitness routine into practice.
