Police officers in Fort Worth, Texas, had a sweet reunion with a toddler they saved from drowning earlier this month – and the young boy was all smiles to see his heroes.

On May 1, Officer Davachi and Sergeant Brady of the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) came to the rescue of a 2-year-old boy named Rowdy who nearly drowned in a pool. When the officers arrived on the scene, the boy’s mother was performing CPR. The officers “immediately took over chest compressions while Sergeant Brady assisted with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation,” according to a press release from the FWPD.

After the Fort Worth Fire Department arrived a short time later and transported the boy to a local hospital, his prognosis was described “as dire, with little expectation of survival through the night,” the release said.

Miraculously, a week later on May 8, the FWPD received the news that despite his earlier complications, little Rowdy made a full recovery from the accident.

Once he was officially released from the hospital, “Officer Davachi, along with the entire second shift team who responded to the initial call, visited Rowdy and his family,” according to the release.

Posting to Facebook, the officers shared photos of little Rowdy posing with the teddy bears given to him and also a few snaps of the fun he had while posing inside a police car.

Rowdy's siblings also received teddy bears and got to explore the police vehicles.
