Three dispersal orders authorised across weekend
Three dispersal orders have been authorised across Kent this weekend.
Orders for Sheerness and Sittingbourne are in response to concerns raised by residents and business owners about anti-social behaviour in the area.
A further order will be in place in Gillingham to tackle any anti-social behaviour which may arise during a football match.
Insp Mick Hayes said anybody seen committing an offence will be “dealt with robustly and will be removed from the area”.
A dispersal order gives officers additional powers to move on anyone causing a nuisance in or between the specified roads. Where necessary, they will arrest those who choose to return to the area once dispersed.
Officers in Sheerness will be enforcing the order in Marine Parade, Trinity Road, Broadway, High Street and Beach Street between 12:00 BST on Saturday and 12:00 on Monday.
In Sittingbourne, officers will be patrolling West Street, Station Road, Milton Road, High Street and the Eurolink retail park over the same period.
Insp Vanessa Foster said: “We will not tolerate disorderly conduct or anti-social behaviour committed by a minority of people.”
Meanwhile, enforcement in Gillingham, which covers Priestfield Stadium and surrounding roads, will begin at 11:00 on Saturday and end at 19:00.
It is in place due to the higher than expected footfall in the area when Gillingham play Doncaster.
