Search for woman missing near Piha moves to cliffs

The search for missing Auckland woman Kim Bambus is now concentrating on a cliff area of Piha where she went missing.

"Based on information gathered into Kim's activities in the days prior to her disappearance, police are focusing the search on the Mercer Bay cliff area,'' Detective Inspector Hayden Mander said on Tuesday.

Searches of the tracks in and around the area where the 21-year-old parked her car have largely been exhausted, he said.

Ms Bambus has been missing since telling friends on Friday that she was going for a run at Piha.

On Monday, inflatable surf lifesaving boats and the police Eagle helicopter conducted further sweeps of the coastline, but there has been no sign of her.

Ms Bambus' car, a yellow Hyundai Getz, registration CWW418, was found on Log Race Road at the entrance to Ahu Ahu Track.

She was wearing a dark coloured jacket, pink exercise top, black shorts and black and white Nike shoes when last seen.
