Tramlines Fringe free live music event to return

Music lovers are to be treated to a full weekend of live performances in Sheffield next month, as The Fringe at Tramlines returns to the city.

The event is set to return alongside the Tramlines Festival, which is due to take place at Hillsborough Park on 27 and 28 July.

Organisers of The Fringe said it would showcase "the best the city has to offer" at a main stage on Devonshire Green and in the city's pubs, clubs and bars.

The main stage line-up would be curated by promotor Alan Deadman and included performances by DJ, poet and dancer Ripton Lindsey and Sheffield three-piece Street Robots, organisers said.

Also performing would be a collaboration between WaterBear College of Music and Tracks Sheffield Music School, which would showcase the best emerging talent in Sheffield, they added.

It would feature Good Damage from WaterBear and two competition winners from Tracks.

All-female Sheffield group Sparkle Sistaz, from Under the Stars, a charity whose aim was to enhance the lives of people with learning disabilities through music and theatre, would also be taking part.

Meanwhile, Highway Child, Speed for Lovers, Solar Love Society, Mango Rescue Team, Shanghai Treason, Shine Choir, Jungle Lion, Soul Battalion and Blue Street Brass were also on the bill, organisers said.

Diane Jarvis, from Sheffield BID, which sponsors the festival, said the organisation was "delighted" to continue partnering with The Fringe.

"The Fringe at Tramlines continues to provide an inclusive and diverse event experience," she said.

"We’re looking forward to yet another vibrant and colourful experience for city centre visitors."

Lisa Firth, director of parks, leisure and libraries at Sheffield City Council, added: “The Fringe at Tramlines takes us back to where the festival started 15 years ago, with a full weekend of free, live music across our city centre, showcasing some of the best talent the city has to offer.

“We are looking forward to another fantastic Tramlines Fringe, with yet another excellent line-up.”
