Travis Kelce Declines to Say What He Yelled at Andy Reid in Heated Super Bowl Moment: ‘Going to Keep It Between Us’

The Chiefs coach joked that Kelce "keeps me young" following the heated moment on the sidelines

Travis Kelce is finding the lighter side of his sideline outburst with coach Andy Reid during the 2024 Super Bowl.

Speaking in a press conference following the Kansas City Chiefs’ 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers, Kelce, 34, said,  “You guys saw that? I’m going to keep it between us unless my mic’d up tells the world."

Per the Associated Press, he then joked, "I was just telling him how much I loved him.”

During the second quarter of Sunday’s game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the tight end was seen airing his frustrations with Reid, 65, as he ran into him and grabbed his arm along the Chiefs’ sidelines.

The moment came after Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco fumbled the ball deep in San Francisco 49ers territory. Kelce was not on the field when the Chiefs lost the ball, and according to CBS analyst Tony Romo, Kelce was telling Reid that he wanted him to keep him in the game.

Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon eventually pulled Kelce away.

Reid later laughed off the heated moment during a post-game interview with CBS with his wife Tammy.

“He keeps me young,” Reid joked of Kelce. “He tested that hip out. He caught me off balance – normally, I’d give him a little bit, but I didn’t have any feet under me.”

Kelce also praised Reid during his post-game press conference as he opened up about how the coach has helped him balance out his emotions when he plays.

“I got the greatest coach this game has ever seen,” said Kelce. “He's unbelievable at not only dialing up plays and having everybody prepared, but he's one of the best leaders of men that I've ever seen in my life."

"And he's helped me a lot with that, with channeling that emotion, with channeling that passion," he continued. "And I owe my entire career to that guy and being able to control how emotional I get and I just love him, man.”

The Chiefs secured their third Super Bowl in five seasons following a thrilling touchdown from Patrick Mahomes in overtime. The quarterback, 28, connected with wide receiver Mecole Hardman in the final minutes of the game to secure the Vince Lombardi trophy for the second year in a row.

Sunday’s game was a rematch of the 2020 Super Bowl, which the Chiefs won 31-20 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The team also claimed victory at last year’s Super Bowl with a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
