Trevor Noah Shares ‘Proof’ His Emmy Win Was Legit
Trevor Noah is bringing the receipts.
In the wake of his story-making victory lap at Monday’s 75th annual primetime Emmy Awards, the former Daily Show host took to social media Wednesday to jokingly share ironclad evidence that he legit won the top talk series prize.

“Attaching proof for everyone who said the inside of the card probably still said John Oliver — and, by everyone, I mean… my mother,” Noah wrote on Instagram beneath a collection of Emmy night images, one of which offers a peek inside the official envelope declaring The Daily Show with Trevor Noah the winner.
With Monday’s triumph, Noah — who vacated his Daily Show post in Dec. 2022 — becomes the first Black person to win Outstanding Talk Series, a feat he called “an honor.“

Noah acknowledged backstage that Daily Show benefited from John Oliver’s Emmy worshipped HBO series Last Week Tonight moving out of Talk Series and into the Variety Series race (a category Oliver ultimately won).
“I told you we’d beat John Oliver if he wasn’t in our category,” Noah joked to reporters. “We did i — we got rid of John Oliver.”
The Daily Show‘s big win during Monday’s three-hour Fox telecast made headlines for other reasons. As Noah was accepting the trophy, ex-Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr. — who exited the Comedy Central show in November — stood behind him and mouthed what we’ve all been thinking: “Please hire a host.” (Wood Jr. later addressed the moment on X, writing: “chill fam I was trying to do that in the low.“)
