  • The High School Musical cast performed 'We're All In This Together' as part of a Disney TV special.

  • Zac also took part, but not quite in the way fans were expecting.

Earlier this week High School Musical fans were thrilled to hear that the original cast members ~including Troy Bolton himself~ were going to be reuniting (virtually) for the Disney Family Singalong TV special.

What a lot of fans didn't realise, however, was that he wasn't going to be doing any actual singing. Nope, instead Zac Efron just introduced the cast.

Personally, we're not complaining with that amount of Zac input but some fans were clearly expecting the actor to join in the performance of 'We're All In This Together' because why wouldn't he?

One fan tweeted: "Finding out Zac Efron didn't sing with the rest of the cast is just yet another major f**k you from 2020."

While another pointed out: "This could've been much better with Zac Efron singing as well... because dude HSM wouldn't be HSM without THE Troy Bolton."

And then you had these...

Still, fans did get to enjoy some Zac screen time, with the actor telling the audience from home: "Hi everyone... I hope that you are safe and healthy you're doing as well as possible during these unprecedented times. It is my greatest pleasure to introduce a musical performance by some of my oldest friends and some new ones."

He finished: "I hope you enjoy and remember that we're all in this together."

And of course we still got to see the rest of the OGs ~ Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and Lucas Grabeel ~ perform.
