Unifor Local 444 executive nominations will happen Tuesday after president retires
It shouldn't be long before a new Unifor Local 444 president in Windsor, Ont., is named.
The union's executive nominations for 10 positions run Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
Terms are for three years and any member with one year of "continuous good standing" in Unifor, and six months seniority with the company, is eligible to apply.
In a memo, the union says if elections end up being required, the advance poll will be held May 3, with election dates set for May 8 and 9.

Dave Cassidy announced his retirement in a social media post over the weekend after six years as president.
"Together, we have weathered numerous challenges," he said.
"From bidding farewell to our built-right Dodge Caravan to navigating the hardships brought on by the cancellation of shifts amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, these were tough times for our hard-working members and their families."
Cassidy, while reflecting on his journey, also said in the statement that he's retiring as an employee of Stellantis.
"I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support and wisdom of my fellow officers."
Unifor national president Lana Payne said Cassidy's "strong voice" enabled him to fight hard for good jobs in the area.
"He always led with an understanding that as a union we are an important part of our communities and must support our communities wherever and however we can," said Payne.
