Valerie Bertinelli Was Told She Looks ‘Just Like Valerie Bertinelli.’ Her Boyfriend Recalls the Hilarious Moment

While in Philadelphia to promote her new cookbook Indulge, Bertinelli and her boyfriend, Mike Goodnough experienced a funny run-in with fans. Goodnough, an East Coast writer, put together a script-like caption on Instagram remembering the moment. He began by setting the scene.

“In Philadelphia with @wolfiesmom,” he said, tagging her Instagram account. “The two of us get on an elevator in the hotel going down. A few floors down, elevator stops and two women get on. Doors close and both turn around to look at us. Well, Valerie, rather.”

Per Goodnough’s account, the first woman asked the star, “Has anyone ever told you that you look just like Valerie Bertinelli?” as the second one concurred, “She’s right. You totally do.”

Bertinelli’s new beau said she just smiled and nodded at their fellow elevator riders. Goodnough got in on the joke by looking at Bertinelli in a funny way. “Yeah, I don’t really see it…” he recalled saying.

The first woman stood by her comments on the resemblance. “If I was home in California I would totally think she was her,” she said according to Goodnough’s account, while the other woman said, “That would be crazy.”

The cookbook author’s boyfriend closed out the story with a silly ending. “And then we reached the lobby and off they went,” he said, adding, “I really hope this post finds Woman 1 and 2 somehow…”

Goodnough completed the Instagram post with a photo of the former Food Network star walking the streets of Philly.

Fans got a kick out of the story in the comments section with one writing, “Love it! 🤣 @wolfiesmom is looking mighty happy these days! 😍🙌❤️🔥.” Another said, “Love this! Nothing better than having fun together!”

On April 20, the couple went Instagram official. In a photo Bertinelli shared, they posed closely together while wearing glasses and smiling at the camera.

Though Bertinelli announced her relationship in March, she kept Goodnough's identity private.

“I’m in love,” she told PEOPLE in a recent cover story. “It’s a seesaw of emotions because I was adamant I was never falling in love again."

She didn’t see the new relationship coming at all. “My belly is flip-flopping. This was not supposed to happen,” she added.

Not long after, Goodnough posted online that he was the cookbook author's new man.

“I am Valerie Bertinelli’s boyfriend … and that may well be among the most surreal sentences I’ve ever pecked out. But it’s true … and nothing about our actual relationship seems surreal. It just seems … good … lucky … a gift,” he wrote on his Substack called Hoarse Whisperings.

“I just adore her. I’m so glad we’re together,” Goodnough added.
