How London's finest florists are reinventing the traditional bouquet
Whether for a special occasion or just because, there's nothing quite like sending – or receiving – a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
While the classics always make a strong statement (nothing says romance quite like a heaving bunch of bright-red roses) there’s a shift taking place in the industry today, with a raft of new, young florists taking an experimental approach to flower arrangement.
As more of us choose to document life’s little joys, plenty of florists are creating social-media worthy displays that are made to be shown off online – see Sage Flowers’ neon petals or My Lady Garden’s artistic asymmetry for inspiration. These are flowers as you’ve likely never seen them before.
Online flower delivery services have received a luxury upgrade, too. Bazaar favourite Flowerbx works with single stems in a host of vibrant hues, so you can order something that perfectly matches any living-room colour scheme. Every pick is seasonal, and there are some hard-to-find varieties in striking shades that are sure to delight any recipient. Another name to know, online florist Bloom crafts its bouquets to order and wraps them in compostable, plastic-free packaging.
Sometimes, only the biggest and boldest gesture will do – and for these occasions, London’s most revered names are ready to provide. Nothing quite matches the impact of an outsized bouquet from the legendary Moyses Stevens: founded in 1876, it's the longest-running florist in London, and owner of not one, but two Royal Warrants.
So whether you’re looking for something to delight a dinner-party host, need a last-minute delivery for a loved one, or simply just want to spoil yourself rotten with some joy-inducing blooms, there’s plenty to choose from now. Here, see our pick of the most spectacular luxury florists in London today. Now, all you need is a beautiful vase...
The best luxury London florists
Paul Thomas
Rumour has it, the Queen herself could spot a Paul Thomas design from a fair few feet away – and indeed, a heavy dose of drama sets Thomas apart from the rest. The master florist is known for creating the backdrops to some of the city's most photographed parties, events and weddings.
Thomas now also offers an extensive selection of bouquets for home delivery. For those who want to support local, the British Flowers collection is especially appealing.
Moyses Stevens
Quintessentially British, the iconic, eccentric Moyses Stevens has been in operation since 1876, and now holds a prestigious Royal Warrant – well actually, it has two.
Using only A-grade buds from both Holland and the UK, the brand creates the kind of bouquets that will be remembered long after their life (there's good reason the royals are regulars).
Head to the 'scented' category for something that'll make your space smell as good as it looks, or add on a luxe Trudon candle or bottle of Ruinart champagne to really make someone's day.
Visit Moyses Stevens at:
1 Tenterden St, W1S 1TA
Selfridges, Oxford St, W1A 1AB
188 Pavillion Rd, SW3 2BF
Unit 13 Circus Village West, SW11 8EZ
Flowerbx
Flowerbx has long been a favourite of fashion insiders, which is hardly surprising considering founder Whitney Bromberg Hawkings is a Tom Ford alum.
The brand specialises in single-stem bouquets that are brimming with modern impact: expect vibrant postbox-red anthuriums and lemon-yellow tulips.
Those looking to make a major romantic statement will find just the thing in The Super Bouquet: a heaving bunch of deep red roses, which you can send pre-arranged in a chic, minimalist vase.
Aoyama Flower Market
Aoyama Flower Market began with a mission to shift the 'special occasion' associations we have with flowers, making joyful blooms an everyday luxury.
The brand is popular in Japan, and has now opened its first UK outpost in the main hall of London's Selfridges. The striking, creative arrangements focus on seasonality, and every bouquet comes wrapped in delicate Japanese paper. You can shop a beautiful selection online – including our favourite, the Sweet Love bouquet – with delivery available nationwide.

Freddie's Flowers
With floristry as his family business, Freddie of Freddie's Flowers is bringing the traditional art into modern realms with his carbon-neutral delivery service. Starting by hand-delivering bouquets on a milk float around South London, he now facilitates nationwide delivery (via bike in the capital, and electric vans further afield), sending monthly blooms to homes across the country.
Sign up online, and you can have a bunch of fresh flowers – either packaged for convenient letterbox delivery, or hand-tied in a heaving bouquet – dropped at your door as often as you wish.
Bloom
SHOP NOW
Online-only florist Bloom launched with sustainability at its core. From dramatic bouquets to chic houseplants, the entire offering is delivered without a pinch of plastic, and each seasonal stem is cut to order – from the field – to ensure no wastage.
Hyper-personalisation is possible here: shop from ready-designed bouquets, create your own arrangement, or order an armful of single-type blooms straight from the market (these pristine white avalanche roses, pictured left, are our current obsession). There's even a subscription service for those who want to indulge in a monthly mood-boost.
Haute Florist
Proof that a last-minute gift doesn't have to come from the plastic-wrapped aisles of the supermarket, Haute Florist's contemporary arrangements can be delivered next-day anywhere in the UK when you order before 10pm.
Making strides in the sustainability stakes, the brand uses recyclable packaging (replacing ribbons with raffia ties and wooden fastenings) and even the flower-food wrappers are biodegradable.
As for the blooms? You're spoilt for choice. The classics are all present here, but we're drawn to the Ikebana collection, which pays homage to the Japanese art of flower arranging via minimalist stems and architectural structure.
Your London Florist
Available to shop on Selfridges, Your London Florist offers modern bouquets with major mood-boosting properties – all created from British blooms.
Here, the classic roses and orchids are combined with contemporary, off-kilter flourishes: we love the foxtail lily that takes centre stage in the vibrant Meadow Bliss arrangement.

Flowerfix
Many people don't realise that sending certain flowers to people with pets can be troublesome. Thoughtfully, Flowerfix offers a trio of 'pet safe' bouquets, hand-curated each week from the freshest seasonal stems and guaranteed not to upset any inquisitive cats.
As well as hand-tied bouquets and convenient letterbox blooms, the brand also creates some chic dried flower arrangements – we love the neutral-toned pampas grass.
Grace Floral London
Grace Floral London founders Diana, Sabina and Halla are very considerate of their environmental impact and take great care to ensure that their brand uses an array of creative sustainable installations and ideas. The company works with seasonal flowers from UK growers, uses recycled materials whenever possible, and does its communication digitally to avoid unnecessary use of paper.
As the name suggests, the business specialises in fresh bouquets and dried flowers created in particularly graceful styles, and is available for retail, editorial and styling, and corporate events.
McQueens
McQueens has been a luxury name to know since the brand launched in 1991 – and today, its stems fill the vases at the most iconic London hotels, including Claridge's and the Berkeley.
We love the antique pastel hues in the brand's online bouquets, which are available for nationwide delivery in the UK (on certain days, so plan ahead). For the most creative delivery, choose the 'Designer's Choice' and give the master florist free rein to create something just for you.

Sage
If you've seen a Sage creation before, you can likely recall it vividly. Since opening in Peckham in 2018, this floristry team has become known for its truly memorable creations, and has worked with the city's chicest designers, restaurants and influencers.
Challenging the classical compositions of traditional floristry, Sage focuses on popping hues and contrasting textures, ensuring your seasonal bouquet will become the focal point of any room.
Visit Sage (by appointment) at 6 Station Passage, SE15 2JR
Philippa Craddock
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex looked to fashion favourite Philippa Craddock to design and dress St George’s Chapel in seasonal flowers for their 2018 wedding. Since then, the self-taught and sustainably conscious floral mastermind has worked alongside the likes of Alexander McQueen, Chopard and Patek Philippe to create an array of show stopping masterpieces.
While Craddock doesn't offer bouquets for delivery, she does run a Floristry Fundamentals masterclass, which makes the perfect present for anyone who wants to learn more about the art of flower arrangement.
Wild at Heart
Nikki Tibbles of Wild at Heart is responsible for some of the grandest dinner table displays. A pro in decadent flower arrangements, you may recognise her work from the fragrant entrance hall of London's Liberty department store. (If you haven't experienced it in person, you've surely seen it on Instagram).
Fashion houses Jimmy Choo and Kate Spade are loyal devotees, with the odd A-Lister too. Whatever you order, all Wild at Heart posies are wrapped up in recyclable and biodegradable packaging, with sprigs plucked from the flower fields of British growers.

JamJar Flowers
Melissa Richardson was previously a designer at i-D magazine, so it's little surprise her florist JamJar Flowers has become a go-to for art-world events and fashion-week parties (you may have seen her work at Chiltern Firehouse).
City-dwellers can now enjoy Richardson's local blooms in their own home, thanks to the brand's delivery service. Order the day before for delivery in central London.

Kaiva Kaimins creates the kind of floral arrangements you just can't stop looking at. Bold, fun and always unexpected, My Lady Garden's bouquets, available at Kaimins' 'flower bar' and concept store in Dalston, have become an East London mainstay.
Far from just making perfect Instagram fodder, every bouquet arrives either wrapped in paper or nestled into a reusable jam jar, so you can be sure you're also making a sustainable choice.
Visit My Lady Garden (by appointment) at 190 Balls Pond Rd, N14AA
Fjura
Australian-born Simone Gooch's work at Fjura (the Maltese word for flower) is abstract and beautifully intricate, with artistic floral creations often consisting of just one single flower.
Out to challenge traditional forms and the idea of ordered ‘arrangements,’ Fjura’s illustrious client list includes the likes of Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermés, Erdem and Christian Louboutin. Mixes, as well as single art pieces, are all seasonal and sourced locally to limit the florist’s impact on the environment.
Wild Things Flowers
The brainchild of self-taught florist Louise Bermingham, Wild Things is aptly named, offering gravity-defying, wedding-esque designs that challenge the floristry norms.
Her home-delivery service is equally whimsical, with the adorable bouquet titles only adding to the fun: we love 'You Don't Know You're Beautiful', a heaving bouquet of creamy, milk-white roses.
Visit Wild Things at 47 Davies St, W1K 4LY
Grace and Thorn
If your tastes skew more off-beat than the classic, old-school florists, look to Hackney-based Grace and Thorn for a quirky selection of fresh and dried flowers, houseplants and pots.
The brand offers nationwide and same-day London delivery services for its bountiful bouquets, but we really rate them for wedding and events flowers with a difference. Book one of the bespoke workshops (held at the Hackney shop, or at the brand's London Fields studio) for a fully tailored-to-you floristry session – great for team bonding days.
Visit Grace and Thorn at 312 Hackney Rd, E2 7SJ
Scarlet and Violet
For magical, almost other-worldly blooms, the labyrinthine shop of Scarlet & Violet in north Londo is just the ticket. The brand was behind the stunning, vintage-inspired and undone country look florals at Kate Moss’ wedding to Jamie Hince – a look founder Vic Brotherson has absolutely perfected.
All year round, the florist hand selects sustainably sourced flora and foliage from British growers to constantly ensure what they have on offer is seasonal. To avoid the use of non-recyclable plastics, all bouquets are wrapped in stylish paper and can be delivered in a vintage-inspired vase.
Visit Scarlet & Violet at 76 Chamberlayne Rd, NW10 3JJ
The Allotment Florist
With the aim of starting a business with a more organic approach to floristry, in 2016, Helena Willcocks bought a North London allotment and began to grow her own wild flowers. Now, she and her small team aim to create fresh and whimsical bunches that look as if they've been freshly picked from the garden (which, of course, they have been).
Willcocks also runs workshops in hand-tying flowers and vase-arranging, and sells DIY kits, too – you may find you're inspired to grow and work with your own flowers at home.
La Grande Beaute
If you're looking for bespoke bouquet worthy of your Instagram grid, look no further than La Grande Beaute. Each floral designer has spent countless hours lovingly crafting each arrangement not only for aesthetic appeal, but also for each bouquet to have a flourishing flagrance. Alongside their florals, La Grande Beaute also offers cakes, wines and even a Ferrero Rocher chocolate tree. With some bouquets offering same day delivery, you never have to worry about missing a special occasion again.

Having been established as one of London's best-loved florists after nearly two decades of service, The Flower Yard is always a solid choice if you want a decent bouquet. Using fresh Dutch flowers, the Flower Yard offers classic arrangements (their Fresh White Lillies, pictured left, are simple yet divine) but also have a few more exotic choices. Their 'Exotic Arrangement' is comprised of orchids, stately proteas and tropical bird of paradise flowers.

Established in 1956 by Lady Pulbrook, this London-based florists has established themselves as a powerhouse in the industry. Celebrated for their natural, experimental and adventurous approach to flower design, Pulbrook & Gould offers both classic bunches, sweet posies and elaborate bouquets that are sure to enthrall guests and brighten up any living space. The artistry of their florists does not stop with real flowers; Pulbrook & Gould also offer faux plants that look similarly spectacular. The well-crafted fakes don't come cheap though - some of their mixed faux flowers can cost as much as £995.
Visit Pulbrook & Gould at 31 Palfrey Place, London, SW8 1PE
Lavender Green
With a client list that boasts "global brands, international celebrities and royal families", it's little surprise that Lavender Green is one of London's most prestigious florists. While they are better known for curating the floral arrangements for grand events and weddings, they also offer bouquets to decorate your living space for the day to day. They err on the more expensive side (as to be expected for a florist on the King's Road), but they will certainly brighten up your home. Our favourite is the 'Winter Garden' bouquet - comprised of deep red roses, peach lisianthus, carthamus, and pastel hypericum, it's the perfect antidote to dark winter nights.
