We're Obsessed With These Dishes From 'Queer Eye' Season 7
With season 7 of Queer Eye taking place in New Orleans, a city that's arguably one of the hottest food destinations in the country, the pressure is on for the Fab Five to deliver. We're looking at you, Antoni!
And deliver, they did. The newest season of Queer Eye, which is currently available to stream on Netflix, is filled with tantalizing recipes tailored to each episode's hero. There's a NoLa staple, a remixed restaurant classic, and so much more.
We hope you're hungry because here are a handful of our favorite dishes from the newest season of Queer Eye.
Muffuletta
If you've ever visited New Orleans, you know that no trip is complete without a muffuletta. Available on nearly ever corner of the city, the muffuletta is a sandwich that's made using salami, ham, Swiss cheese, provolone, and mortadella. There's also an ample amount of olive salad spread onto the sandwich.
The muffuletta made an appearance during the first episode of season 7, as Antoni taught a group of fraternity brothers how to make the simple dish. They then served their muffulettas at an alumni event hosted at their newly redesigned fraternity house. We're pretty sure the sandwiches were a hit.
Hibachi-Style Steak & Fried Rice
Viewers quickly fell in love with Speedy, the hero who personally asked if Antoni could teach him how to make steak and fried rice. We're not quite sure, but a hero making a recipe request? That might just be a Queer Eye first! The hearty dish was so much of a hit that Antoni confessed that he's now inspired to make the dish at home more often.
We do have to admit that we were kinda hoping for a homemade yum yum sauce recipe to go along with the dish.
Trout Meunière
Antoni drew inspiration from cooking great Julia Child with his Trout Meunière, a flavorfully rich dish that swaps sole for trout (a nod to New Orleans) for a twist on Sole Meunière. The dish was chosen to highlight hero Jenni's travels around the world, including a trip to Paris, France.
Shrimp Étouffée
Last, but not least, another favorite dish from this season was Shrimp Étouffée. A classic New Orleans meal, Shrimp Étouffée is a stew-like, smothered shrimp dish that's packed with flavor. Antoni chose Shrimp Étouffée for Ms. Mary, a thrift shop owner who previously spent 12 years in prison, as an exciting option for meal planning.
