Sparks flew between Whitney Port and Tim Rosenman on the set of MTV’s The City, but they waited until the show was canceled to start dating.

From 2008 to 2010, Port starred on the reality show, and Rosenman worked on the series as a producer. Although he was tasked with setting her up on dates in New York City, he was not excited about it and she also wasn’t interested in going out with other people. Fortunately for the pair, The City went off the air after two seasons.

When Port and Rosenman were finally able to explore their romantic connection, they discovered that they had something special. The couple got engaged in November 2013 and married on Nov. 7, 2015, in Santa Barbara, California. These days, they are loving parents to their son, Sonny Sanford, whom they welcomed on July 27, 2017.

In 2023, Port honored their eighth wedding anniversary with a romantic Instagram video. “What do you wish for us in our eighth year of marriage?” Port asks in the black-and white clip. Rosenman responds, “Eight more years of breath. Right? That’s nice stuff … Eight more and then in eight years, we’ll wish for another eight.”

So who is Whitney Port’s husband? Here’s everything to know about Tim Rosenman and his relationship with the reality star and fashion designer.

According to Deadline, he has also worked as a development executive for Done and Done Productions and Lionsgate, and was hired as the director of development at IM Global Television in 2017.

He frequently appears on Port’s podcast, With Whit. On her show, they discuss everything from managing daily tasks to food to grief and goals. Port and Rosenman often chat about the latest pop culture headlines, too.

The couple also makes YouTube vlogs and reaction videos together. In their vlogs, they open up about house renovations, their journey with pregnancies and miscarriages, their travels and more. During a February 2014 interview with SheKnows, Port revealed that she and Rosenman met for the first time at one of her former boyfriend’s birthday dinners.

“Tim was there,” she said. “And I sat across from him. I left the dinner saying to a mutual friend, ‘Oh my god. Who is that guy? I think I love him.' Seriously!"

She recalled that there was “just something about him,” adding, “He was super funny, really normal and just really laid-back. Not pretentious, and not trying too hard.”

Port and Rosenman developed feelings for each other while working on The City, which aired from 2008 to 2010. She starred in the show, which followed her life in N.Y.C., and he worked with her as a producer.

The fashion designer explained to SheKnows, “When you work on a show, it’s like summer camp and you become really close. We formed this really deep emotional connection and never really acted on it until the show got canceled.”

“We would tell each other, ‘If this is meant to be, then it’s meant to be,’ ” she shared. “We knew we loved each other, but we just didn’t want to blur the lines.”

Per a May 2016 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Port was set up on dates during the show, and she didn’t want to go because she was already invested in Rosenman.

“I was like, ‘I don’t wanna do this,’ ” she remembered. “ ‘I don’t wanna do this in front of him.’ And he actually was in charge of finding guys to go out on dates with me, and he didn’t want to do that either.”

During an October 2019 discussion on the In All Fairness podcast, Rosenman explained why he wanted to wait until the show was over to explore his connection with Port.

“I would’ve lost my job,” he said. “So I kept it very professional. We really fell in love while that show was being filmed, and then when it got canceled, we were both like, ‘Yeah!’ ”

A few years after The City ended, the couple got engaged in November 2013.

Rosenman proposed to Port twice

Rosenman was going to surprise Port with a proposal on a trip to Australia, but Port accidentally derailed that plan. While speaking with MTV in January 2015, she said that she overheard him talking about it beforehand with his boss.

“I swear I wasn't being nosy at all!” Port said. “I heard his boss say something like, ‘Good luck with Whit with whatever you decide to do in Australia.’ ”

She “immediately” asked Rosenman about the conversation because she “just couldn’t let it go.”

Port recalled, “He could see the mental torment I was putting myself through, so he finally gave in. He got down on one knee and proposed. It was so beautiful.”

Since she found out ahead of time, Port was able to give Rosenman some input on the Ron Bensimon ring and expressed her preference for an oval shape and rose gold.

When they did go on their Australia vacation, Rosenman popped the question a second time in their hotel room. “[He] presented me with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen,” Port recalled to MTV. “How many girls get to say they had two proposals? I feel so lucky, and I wouldn’t change a thing about our story.”

The producer and television personality exchanged vows at the El Capitan Canyon resort in Santa Barbara on Nov. 7, 2015. Port shared details about the special day with Green Wedding Shoes in February 2016.

“We wrote our own vows and had members of our family marry us,” she wrote. “We didn’t do a sit down dinner because we are way more casual than that and wanted everyone to have little bites of everything including all of our favorite things like a bread bar."

Port added that for the occasion, they named cocktails after their nicknames for each other. They also chose the music by curating a playlist over the two years they were engaged. She and Rosenman held their rehearsal dinner at a bowling alley because “Timmy loves to bowl.”

They share a son

Port and Rosenman welcomed Sonny Sanford on July 27, 2017. A few days after giving birth, the reality star reflected on Instagram, “I am beyond obsessed and in love and wish I could bottle this feeling for all of you out there.”

In a YouTube vlog, the couple was honest about their relationship struggles after having Sonny. “I don’t think you’re being crazy or overreacting,” Rosenman told his wife in the video. “When your nipples hurt to breastfeed, not only did it physically hurt, but [also] it was emotionally tough because you wanted to feed the baby.” He noted that “mom judgment” is also difficult but said they’ve “been through a bad thing and dealt with it.”

The producer added, “That’s not to say everything has been easy. The fact that my wife is not happy and going through a tough time has an effect on me.” He also opened up about their sex life getting back to normal “when things calm down.”

In July 2023, Port celebrated Sonny’s sixth birthday with an Instagram tribute. “You wanna live a life of relaxation, you love yourself, you think everyone is crazy, you like poop but you also don’t like poop and you’re happy!” she wrote in her caption. The podcast host jokingly added, “You sound exactly like your mom and dad."

After going through multiple pregnancy losses, Port and Rosenman are still hopeful for a second child. Port shared with PEOPLE in December 2021 that they “definitely want another baby.” She and Rosenman visited a fertility specialist later that month.

In a July 2023 interview with Us Weekly, Port explained, “I’m still figuring things out and nothing is, like, 100% yet and so it’s one of those things where you’re scared to put it out into the universe until you know what’s happening."

Port revealed that she and her husband are “going through the motions of surrogacy” and have embryos stored.

After fans commented on how thin Port looked in a July 2023 bikini photo, she shared that Rosenman had also expressed his concern to her. “I’ve gotten a lot of comments about looking too thin,” she responded to her worried followers on Instagram Stories. She explained that at first, the comments “didn’t bother” her.

Port continued, “But Timmy brought it to my attention, as a good husband should, and said it’s not just something strangers are spewing. He has been worried about me."

Port noted that food and weight is not something she’s “consciously thinking about.” She concluded her Instagram Stories post, “I don’t want to set an unhealthy example so I promised Timmy and I’ll promise you that my health will be a priority.”

The following month, Port wrote in another Instagram Stories update that the concerns were “blown out of proportion” and reminded her followers to be kind. “I, of course, appreciate any concern over my health but just a friendly reminder to hold yourself back from making snarky comments about someone’s weight, 'cause Timmy will come for you!” she wrote, adding: “Jk.”

He’s a loving father and husband

You give us the greatest gift in life — you believe in us. We also puke in your car all the time, and you still like us.”

“Thank you for protecting, caring and feeding us every single day,” she continued. “We love you more than anything ❤️.”
