Willow Smith’s natural skin texture is a lesson in glass skin

Between TikTok's 'Bold Glamour' filter and years of Photoshop faux pas, it can be difficult to distinguish between reality and dystopian reality. In other words, social media editing has – somewhat – led to blurred lines of what it means to be 'natural', heightened and unachievable beauty standards and even idealised a sense of distortion.

So, when celebrities, content creators, publications and the wider media get candid about what it means to portray a real-life body, face or skin texture, for example, you best believe we're all for it. And today, it's Willow Smith (also known mononymously as Willow) who we're championing for embracing the latter.

Last Friday [3 May, 2024], Willow released ‘Empathogen,’ a 12-track, genre-bending album that reflects the artist’s musical and emotional evolution. And to speak more on the inspiration behind it, following the release, the singer appeared as the latest cover star for Flaunt magazine's Issue 191, named Fresh Cuts.

Alongside a soon-to-be-released interview, the publication shared images from the shoot on Instagram featuring an up-close, raw look at Willow's natural skin texture.

Francie Tomalonis was the artist behind the makeup look opting for a glowy, glass-skin complexion, topped with a variation of shimmer eyes. The brand Anastasia Beverly Hills was used to create the look.

Now, while we're not claiming these images to have gone completely un-retouched, it's always appreciated to see one's natural skin texture being shown and embraced – pores 'n' all. After all, this is what a real complexion (albeit a very clear, acne-free one with a full face of makeup on) looks like! Snaps for the Smith genes.

More of this, please!
